The short version

EquipFlow is funded by affiliate commissions. Many of the outbound product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price. There is no surcharge and no discount lost.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. EquipFlow is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.

Other programs

We also participate in affiliate programs run by outdoor and running retailers and by individual gear brands. The commission rate differs from one program to another. It does not influence what we recommend, and we do not accept payment for placement or for a positive write-up.

Where you will see disclosure

Every guide page carries a disclosure paragraph above the article body, before you reach any affiliate link. Every affiliate button and comparison table link is labelled. This footer disclosure appears on every page of the site. That layering is deliberate: a disclosure buried in a footer does not meet the FTC's requirement that it appear at the point of recommendation.

What commissions do not buy

  • They do not buy a place in a recommendation list.
  • They do not buy a higher position in a comparison table.
  • They do not stop us naming a product's weaknesses. Every product card on this site lists trade-offs alongside strengths.
  • They do not come from you. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin.

Honest limits

Some products we would recommend have no affiliate program at all, and we link to them anyway. Some retailers pay far better than others, and we still link to whoever the reader is most likely to buy from. If a category has no good option, we say the category has no good option.
